Sisan Lee(b.1995) explores how materials found in the surrounding environment can be expanded within new contexts. He collects a range of materials, including stone, wood, marble, and metal, and takes the inherent qualities of each material, as well as the traces left by their processes of formation, as the starting point of his work. Through sculptural methods such as casting, rearranging, enlarging, and combining, he preserves the characteristics of the materials while creating new relationships and functions. This investigation extends into sculpture, furniture, and installation.

‹Proportions of stone› series explores the construction of objects based on the forms and proportions of stones found in nature.
Unlike conventional design approaches that begin with functional requirements and standardized dimensions, the scale, shape, weight, and other material conditions of collected stones serve as the criteria for determining the overall structure and proportion.

The stones used in the works are incorporated in their found forms without additional processing, while the structures are designed in response to the physical conditions of each stone. Through the encounter between naturally formed structures and artificial frameworks, the two elements retain their distinct characteristics while establishing new structural relationships.

‹Proportions of stone› series examines how material conditions formed through natural processes can be extended into new relationships and roles within artificial structures.
